Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2026. These terms apply to all users of Cog Marketplace Ltd ("Cog", "we", "us").

1. About Cog

Cog is an online marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of bicycles and cycling components worldwide. We are not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers — we provide the platform through which they transact.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old to register.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You must provide accurate information when registering and creating listings.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

3. Listings

• Sellers must accurately describe the condition, size, and any defects of items listed.
• Photos must genuinely represent the item being sold.
• The same item may not be listed more than once simultaneously.
• Sellers must own the item or have the right to sell it.
• Listing is free. Cog charges a 5% platform fee on completed sales, deducted from the seller's payout.

4. Prohibited items

The following may not be listed on Cog:

• Stolen goods
• Counterfeit or replica items
• Items that infringe third-party intellectual property rights
• Dangerous or illegal items
• Items unrelated to cycling

Violation may result in immediate listing removal and account suspension.

5. Buying

• By clicking "Buy now" or having an offer accepted, you enter a binding contract with the seller.
• Payments are processed via Stripe. Your card details are never stored by Cog.
• Prices are displayed in the seller's chosen currency. Any applicable taxes are the responsibility of the relevant party.
• Buyers may make offers of up to 10% below the listed price. Sellers are not obliged to accept.

6. Selling

• Sellers must dispatch items within 3 working days of a confirmed sale.
• Items must be packaged securely and match the listing description.
• Seller payouts are processed by Stripe within 2–5 business days of dispatch confirmation, minus the 5% platform fee.
• Sellers are responsible for any tax obligations arising from sales.

7. Buyer Protection

Cog offers Buyer Protection on all purchases completed through our checkout. See our Buyer Protection page for full details. Cog's liability is limited to the value of the transaction in dispute.

8. Returns and refunds

• Under applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction, buyers may have the right to cancel a distance purchase and return the item in its original condition within a statutory period.
• Return postage costs are the buyer's responsibility unless the item is not as described.
• Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5 working days of receiving the returned item.

9. Intellectual property

By uploading photos or content to Cog, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on the platform. You retain ownership of your content. We will not sell your content to third parties.

10. Limitation of liability

Cog is a marketplace platform. We are not liable for the accuracy of listings, the condition of items, disputes between buyers and sellers, or consequential losses arising from use of the platform. Our total liability in any circumstances is limited to the value of the transaction in question.

11. Privacy

We handle your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law. We do not sell personal data to third parties.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of Cog after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Cog Marketplace Ltd is incorporated. We will endeavour to resolve disputes amicably before any formal proceedings.
